• ACADEMICS
Thirty
credits are required for graduation from Forest City Christian School.
A one-semester course is equivalent to one-half credit. If a student
fails a required course, he/she must retake that class the next time it
is offered unless it conflicts with another required course. Classes
offered at FCCS must be taken on campus to receive graduation credit.
In addition to academic requirements, a student will complete
twenty-five hours of mission and/or community service each year.
Since
Christianity is a lifestyle, Biblical standards of behavior are
expected of students at school and away from school. Misbehavior on or
off campus consists of attitudes and behaviors that violate Scriptural
principles of right and wrong. Students are expected to act becomingly
and appropriately as young Christian men and women.
• CLASSICAL EDUCATION
Classical Education: A teaching style for the way children were designed to learn - A. Emphasizing grammar, logic, and rhetoric in all subjects:
- B. Encourage every student to develop a love for learning and to live up to his academic potential
- C. Provide an orderly atmosphere conducive to the attainment of the above goals
For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. ~Proverbs 2:6
• ADMISSIONS POLICY
Forest City Christian School
provides an education with the students' success in mind, understanding
that FCCS may not be the best place for all students. With this
understanding, a recommendation may be made to parents that seeking
another school would be in the best interest of the child.
Once
a student is enrolled at FCCS, a mutual bond of commitment is
established between the school, the student, and the parent. Together
we commit ourselves to provide effective communication to operate in an
efficient manner.
Students are expected to commit themselves to
the community, to be effective learners, to cooperate with teachers and
others. Students are expected to respect the codes and regulations of
the school and to grow in responsibility for their own education.
Parents
are expected to be committed to their child’s education. This would
include supporting faculty and administration as well as the policies,
regulations and procedures of FCCS.
• NONDISCRIMINATION POLICY
FCCS
admits students of any race, color, nationality, ethnic origin, or
gender to all rights, priviledges, programs, and activities generally
accorded or made available to students at FCCS.
• ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS INTERNATIONAL
FCCS is a member of and affiliated with Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). This is a group of
Christian schools from around the world that are committed to providing
a Christian education to students. There are more than 30,000 schools
in the United States, Canada, and around the world who are committed to
the association. ACSI serves as an accrediting body of Christian
schools and a certifying body for Christian teachers. Annual teacher
conferences provide opportunities for our faculty to develop and expand
their skills through participation and leadership. Academic
competitions (Speech, Spelling, Drama, Creative Writing, Mathematics,
Foreign Language, Art, Science, Vocal Music & Band) are part of
ACSI’s annual calendar of events for elementary and secondary students.
