• MISSION STATEMENT
The
mission of FCCS is to partner with the home and church to provide an
academic education within a Christian context to effectively prepare
students for life.
• VISION STATEMENT
- To think critically: The ability to analyze information and test everything against God’s Word thereby knowing the truth.
- To know the truth: The ability to apply God’s Word in everyday life and relationships thereby becoming Christ-like.
- To be Christ-like: The ability to apply Biblical values shown through Christ’s example.
• PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
From
preschool through high school, programs are designed to train and
develop students’ minds, bodies and spirits leading them to fulfill
God’s plan for their lives. Ecclesiastes 4:12 states that “a
cord of three strands is not easily broken.” We believe education
is a three-stranded cord – home, church, and school. In
cooperation with the home and church, Forest City Christian School
endeavors to build character and spiritual strength in children.
This three-stranded cord gently leads the children into a life devoted
to the Lord and the path He has planned. - Classroom Expectations: Be Punctual | Be Prepared | Be Positive | Be Polite
• STATEMENT OF FAITH
We
believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired
Word of God, without error in the original writing, the complete
revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and
final authority for all Christian faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16-17)
We
believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and
eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.
(Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:18-19, Hebrews 11:3)
We believe that
Jesus Christ is true God and true Man, having been conceived of the
Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a
sacrifice for our sins, according to the Scriptures. Further, He rose
bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where, at the right hand of
the Majesty on High, He is now our Priest and Advocate. (Matthew 1:18,
Hebrews 8:1)
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is
to glorify the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. During this age the
Holy Spirit will convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell,
guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.
(John 14:16-17, 26)
We believe that man was created in the image
of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only through
regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be
obtained. (Romans 3:23, Ephesians 1:13-14)
We believe that the
shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground
for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as
receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become
children of God. (John 3:5-21, I Peter 2:24)
We believe that the
true church is composed of all such person who, through saving faith in
Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united
together in the body of Christ of which He is the head. (Romans 8:16)
We
believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
and that this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life
and service of the believer. (Acts 1:11b)
We believe in the
bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to the everlasting
blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and
everlasting conscious punishment. (Matthew 25:31-46)
• HISTORY
August
1982 marked the first year of Forest City Christian School. The school
convened with six students at the Ellington Township Hall. The next
year this one-room school house was converted to a two-room school to
accommodate fourteen students.
Registration during the summer of
1984 totaled thirty-one, necessitating a move to the former
country-western store East of Forest City. Because enrollment kept
increasing, the secondary grades move to the shelter house at
Greenfield Estates in 1986. The secondary students moved again in 1989
to a building on Airport Road. When that building was sold and the
store was needed for another used, parents decided to purchase and
renovate the old Great Western Lampshade Factory at 305 Walnut Street,
our current location. Enrollment for preschool-12th grade totaled 125
students.
In the summer of 1993 the school was offered the
Winnebago office building. Parents voted to accept the offer.
Renovations began in 1995 with volunteer help. The first day of class
at the FCCS East campus was April 6, 1998. Students in preschool-6 th
grades remained at the West campus and students 7th-12th grades moved
to the East campus.
With the economy slowing and enrollment
dropping, FCCS parents decided in June, 2001 to sell the East campus
and move back together. The building was sold in 2003. A portion of the
proceeds has been used to establish an endowment for FCCS.
Having
served students with a Biblically based education for over 25 years,
FCCS has found God faithful to complete the work which He has started.
